The Story of Aabroo

Positive growth.

Aabroo Educational Welfare Organization (Aabroo) was started in January 2003, when a kind-hearted woman, Robina Shakil, asked the question: Why should a house servant’s child be a house servant forever; why could the child not have a life of dignity and honor? The hopelessness of these children weighed heavily on her. She began teaching a few of these children in her neighborhood.

Through her hard work and dedication, what began as a small effort in her home developed into a large scale operation that now educates over 5,000 poor children (51% girls) in nine schools. They receive free education from nursery to high school, including books, uniforms, daily hot lunch, vocational training, medical assistance, and portable water.

Robina, an orphan herself, has dedicated her life to providing education and hope of a better future to these poor and desperate children. God bless her and her Aabroo team.

Aabroo was registered in Lahore, Pakistan, under the “Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies Ordinance (XLVI of 1961)” in August 2003.
