As 2020 draws to a close, we wanted to recognize the huge impact our donors’ support has made on Aabroo this past year. It is only through the help of Allah (swt) and their generous donations of $168,000 that Aabroo was able to help over 5,000 desperately poor students and their families live a better life and achieve a better future.
Expansion
Although COVID-19 delayed the construction of the Aabroo Primary School and the Peace Orphanage (for 200 students), the school is now essentially complete, and the orphanage is nearing completion. Friends of Aabroo provided $135,000 towards construction of these buildings during 2020, but approximately $35,000 is still needed for the final finishing work.
Food Distribution
To ease the COVID-19 lockdown, Aabroo distributed over 10,000 food packets to 3,100 families (5032 students) and meals to over 1,000 jhuggi (slum area) school students and their families at a combined total cost of over $200,000.
Hifz Program
In collaboration withDar-e-Arqam Schools, Aabroo started Hifz classes in March 2019. Many students are enrolled in this program and memorizing the Holy Qur’an, masha Allah.
Punjab Board Exams (Matric and Intermediate)
More than 90% of the Aabroo students were successful in these exams with majority achieving high grades (A or A+). Many have gone on to learn trades or enroll in professional university programs (medicine, engineering, nursing, teaching, accounting).
